Leorio is one the protagonists of the series and befriends Gon, Kuripika and Killua during the Hunter Exam. As a young child Leorio lost his friend to a curable illness that he couldnt afford the treatment for. Feeling such remorse over his death Leorio dedicates himself to becoming a Hunter to pay for the necessary costs of becoming a doctor and treating the impoverished for free.
